Writer/Analyst – Environmental sustainability and critical digital infrastructure

Uptime Institute Intelligence is the independent research arm of Uptime Institute, a global authority on data centers and digital infrastructure. We publish regular, independent, and authoritative reports on all aspects of digital infrastructure for our members and thousands of readers around the world.

Our research areas cover risk and resiliency, operations, technological innovation, economics, sustainability, and market dynamics.

We are now significantly expanding our research, publishing, and membership program. The mission is to provide ever more insightful information, analysis and advice to businesses and governments around the working in this high growth, fast changing sector.

We seek an experienced, energetic and intellectually curious research analyst, with a strong interest in environmental sustainability. The ideal candidate should:

  • Have a good understanding of critical digital infrastructure and technology.
  • Have a good and current understanding of sustainability issues, which may span renewable energy, energy storage, the utility industry, regulations and standards, carbon/sustainability reporting, and the circular economy.
  • Have experience engaging with managers and executives on the topics of technology/strategy.
  • Have a proven ability to write and present clearly and accurately about nuanced and complex topics.
  • Be able to develop ideas and projects, and, working with others, see these through to completion.
  • Enjoy working as part of a collaborative, diverse and global team.

The position may be based remotely or (partially) at one of Uptime Institute’s offices in New York, Seattle, or London. Some travel may be required.
